Holiday Bike Swap for Kids at Audi of Lexington

Over 200 bikes were donated to kids at the Audi of Lexington event to celebrate the holiday season.

As an early Christmas gift for the children of the Lexington, KY area, Audi of Lexington teamed up with Bluegrass's Big Brothers Big Sisters program to host a bicycle giveaway for the holiday season. The bikes were donated by people in the Lexington area and Central Kentucky with Audi of Lexington matching the donations. This five-year strong tradition comes from a drive to do something special and help children in the Lexington community.

The event started in 2015 with an idea from Audi of Lexington's General Manager Chad Kemmish. Having a bike is something important in Chad's life and something he thinks every child should get to experience. Now, every year, families can sign up to receive a bike and pick them up at Audi of Lexington or have them delivered with the help of Kentucky Utilities and Kentucky American.

The December event saw kids gleefully riding their new bikes in the dealership parking lot- safely, of course with gear donated by the Bluegrass Cycling Club, who joined in on the fun this year providing locks, helmets, and assistance with assembly the day of the swap. Parents and kids spent the day picking out the perfect bike and a helmet that fit just right.

Audi of Lexington has no plans to stop spreading the joy so anticipate the Big Brothers Big Sisters bike giveaway event to be back next December.
